Aligning our Life and Speech with God’s Words
How are we to approach situations involving demonic/Satanic activity, healing and anything where taking authority is involved?
If we look at Yeshua’s example we see that authority doesn’t mean doing things in our way or our time. A good example of this can be found in Matthew 4:1-11 which takes place after Yeshua was baptized and went out to the desert. He could have answered Satan with an attitude of confidence and pride, but He did not. Instead, Yeshua answered Satan by aligning His life with, and declaring the Words of God from the scriptures.
Timing is also important. Sometimes we see examples of Yeshua stepping back, so to speak, because it was not yet His time. We also see situations where people responded to the testing of Satan in their own words and not the Word of God, opening the door for the enemy to twist and manipulate the outcome.
We must be careful not to find ourselves in a situation where a demon is cast out, yet the condition of the person’s heart is such that the same spirit can return (Luke 11:14-26). And we also need to remember that the person we pray for must have a desire to change and to let go of hurt and unforgiveness.
Filled with the Holy Spirit
Demonic influence tempts people in order to defile them, to make them unholy. Therefore, we must remain continually filled with the Holy Spirit. We live in a world where the demonic surrounds us, manifesting itself in fear and doubt. We should be prepared to pray for people to be victorious over these attacks, people we know and people we may just pass on the street.
Let’s go forth in love not fear, with His thoughts not ours. Let’s go into this battle equipped, filled with His Holy Spirit and speaking His words to others.

Let us not forget Rav Sha’ul’s words in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly but powerful through God for the tearing down of strongholds. We are tearing down false arguments and every high-minded thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Messiah …”
Also, we ought to be reminded that it is not our words that are powerful but it is God’s word proclaimed, believing in Messiah Yeshua!
Furthermore, we are instructed to walk circumspectly and guard our speech
Jude 1:8-9
“ ….. (they) reject the Lord's authority, and defame glorious beings. But when Michael the archangel, disputing with the devil, was arguing about the body of Moses, he did not dare to render a judgment against him for slander, but said, "May the Lord rebuke you!"
Zechariah 3:1-2
Then he showed me Joshua the kohen gadol standing before the angel of Adonai and the satan, standing at his right hand to accuse him. Adonai said to the satan, ‘Adonai rebukes you, the satan. Indeed Adonai, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you.
I have a book on my shelf titles “Needless Casualties of War” by John Paul Jackson. He says “prayer is a powerful weapon, a two-edged sword, not to be wielded carelessly. Although we have authority as children of God, how we fight can determine our personal consequences in the battle of the millennium”.
Elsewhere he states “Asking God to win the battle for us is the wisest way to engage in spiritual warfare. Normally, we are hidden in Messiah Yeshua (col 3;3), but entering into any level of prayer warfare, exposes us. Yeshua focussed on God, His Father, and thus taught us to pray to the Father rather than addressing directly demonic powers in the heavenly realm. It is Jesus who delivers His people from the snares of the adversary”.
