ZICHROM HAMASHIACH AND YOM KIPPUR

Tomorrow evening, at our erev Shabbat service at Beit Ariel, we will gather around the
TABLE OF THE LORD as we celebrate ZICHRON HAMASHIACH -
THE REMEMBRANCE MEAL OF MESSIAH.
This will be on erev Shabbat, 18th September at 18h15 and also, on Saturday 20th September at 10h00, as part of our weekly Torah service.
This Shabbat is the special Shabbat which always falls before Yom Kippur – The Day of Atonement and is known as Shabbat Shuva – The Shabbat of Repentance. Our speaker on erev Shabbat is Rabbi Russ Resnick. Leigh will lead us in worship as we actually sing all the songs from this 2nd song of Moses called Parashat Ha’azinu, including Ascribe Greatness to the Lord, our God!
What is quite remarkable about this 2nd shirah (song) that Moshe sang to HaShem, accepting that God is just and true in all His ways, was that Moshe sang this shirah (song) on the last day of his life!
We will also gather around the Lord’s Table at our Torah service on Saturday morning, the 19th September at 10h00. I will lead the shiur (interactive discussion) and my topic is ‘THE THREE SONGS OF MOSES’, culminating in Revelation 15 where we read about ‘The Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb’.
We will also gather on Sunday evening, 20th September at 18h15, for our Yom Kippur (Kol Nidrei) service. Our speaker is Michael Page. This service will be held in the Wichtsaal. On Monday morning, 21st September, we will gather at 10h00, again in the Wichtsaal, for the Yom Kippur morning service.
A unique feature of the morning Yom Kippur service – The Day of Atonement – is that we break into smaller groups of 3 or 4 people to pray and minster to one another. This service is designed around the three sacrifices that Aaron offered up in the Temple on Yom Kippur.
Aaron first offered up a sacrifice for himself and his household
We pray and minister to one another and we fulfill the instruction found in Ya’akov 5:16 – “confess your offenses to one another and pray for one another so that you may be healed’. Only after this, do we pray and intercede for our families, siblings etc and our loved ones who perhaps do not yet know Yeshua as MaShiach - Messiah.
Aaron then offered up a sacrifice for the Levitical priesthood
We - the Body of Messiah - are the priesthood of believers (1 Peter 2:9) and so, we pray for the Body of Messiah, offering up prophetic repentance for ‘all have fallen short of the glory of God’ (Romans 3:23). We pray for us, and not them, for we are one body!
Finally, Aaron offered up a sacrifice for B’nei Yisrael – the Jewish people.
We intercede for their protection from all their enemies. We also cry out to HaShem to cause the scales to fall off their eyes, and to soften their hearts, so that they might recognize and receive their Jewish Messiah, Yeshua of Nazareth.
It was God’s redemptive purpose to blind them to the first visitation of Yeshua as is revealed in Romans 11:25 - “For I do not want you, brothers and sisters, to be ignorant of this mysteryv—lest you be wise in your own eyes — that a partial hardening has come upon Israel UNTIL the fullness of the Gentiles has come in”.
