The Way the Truth and the Life FFOZ

Yeshua had often forewarned the disciples of His impending suffering, death, and resurrection. Alluding back to those predictions during his farewell discourse, He said, “And you know the way where I am going” (John 14:4). The disciples had never allowed themselves to take His death predictions literally. Always the pragmatist, Thomas shoved aside the cryptic references and objected, saying, “Master, we do not know where you are going, how do we know the way?” (John 14:5). Even if they did know where He was going, how could they know the way to where He is going? Can human beings find their way past the cross and the grave to reach the Father? How does a man find the house with many rooms of which he had spoken? Yeshua answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). What is “the way”? The Scriptures speak of Wisdom and Torah as the path of life, the way of the LORD, and the way of truth. “For the commandment is a lamp and the Torah is light; and reproofs for discipline are the way of life” (Proverbs 6:23). “The path of life leads upward for the wise that he may keep away from Sheol below” (Proverbs 15:24). King David said, “Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth” (Psalm 86:11). He said, “I have chosen the faithful way; I have placed Your ordinances before me” (Psalm 119:30). After Yeshua’s resurrection, his disciples referred to their sect as “the Way.” Yeshua words convey the sense, “If you know me, then you already know the way to the Father.” He is the way to the Father because He is the true revelation of God. “For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth” (John 18:37). As the way to the Father He is also the way to the resurrection and eternal life in the World to Come: “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). “He who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life” (John 5:24).
As the divine Wisdom made flesh, Yeshua is truth and life—a living Torah—that leads to life and the true revelation of God.
The Way = The path to God
The Truth = The revelation of God
The Life = The resurrection and eternal life
